This site is dedicated to the racing activities of Joshua Moffitt, Age 9, Des Moines Iowa. Joshua began racing in 2006 at the age of 6, and raced Go Karts at Jamaica Raceway, Jamaica Iowa. During the downtime between the 2006-2007 season, the decision was made to upgrade to an Outlaw Dirt Kart. We will follow the construct of the Outlaw Kart and also follow the season as Josh races this new car at English Creek Speedway, Knoxville Iowa.
"Kids Are Racers Too"

While some people feel kids this young should not be racing, I feel that with the proper training and safety equipment, These kids can enjoy the thrill of a lifetime. I feel that IF the proper safety equipment is used correctly, racing these cars isn't any more dangerous than letting them play baseball, or any of several "stick and ball" sports. Please take time to look around the site and I'm sure you will agree.

NEWS AS IT HAPPENS !
Here I will update on new things about the site and/or Joshua as he races his Outlaw Dirt Kart around the Midwest.
2009 POINTS CHAMPION ! Although I havent kept up with the site ( Updates coming oct 3 approximately) Joshua has had a great year ! The Box Stock class of racing was VERY competitve. This was his 1st year in that class, and we expected him to take some time to getthe feel of the incresed power and speed. This was not the case. Josh got acclimated to it very very quickly, and was immediately racing with the leaders. He finished well in most races ( results coming) and won several trophy dashes and an A Main event, accumulating enough points along the way to be class champion for the year. It was a very tight points battle, though, beating 2nd place by just 4 points and 3rd place by only 6. Results are on www.englishcreekspeedway.com also. This great finish, combined with it being his 1st year in the new class also qualifies him for the Rookie of the Year award. please check back !

3 car team takes shape !
we have decided to add a restrictor plate car for Joshua's brothers to try the sport in.
we will allow David Moffitt and Kaleb Wilkins to alternate weeks, and find out if either, neither, or both have the interest and skills to sucessfully join Outlaw Dirt Kart Racing. We have purchased a 2005 QRC chassis for them to run. It has been involved in a pretty serious accident, and may be slightly bent ..Dan at MLC Motorsports assures me it can be repaired and made raceable again if it indeed is bent.
Also we have an Iceberg Racing chassis. We plan to install a 2 stroke PCR reed valve engine with jackshaft, somewhat underpowered compared to the 125cc class, but definately more powerful than his current box stock. We plan to use this car to allow Joshua to run some praactice laps in 2010 to make the step to the 125 class a little bit less dramatic when he makes the step in 2011 or 2012. We have also secured a 1989 Honda CR125 engine to finish a rebuild on and have on hand for when that time comes. we will likely be looking at changing chassis at that time again, but this should be an excellent starter unit !
Josh goes pro !
10/20/07 ... Joshua wins money ! At Newton Raceway, Joshua earned a $10.00 payment. This is his 2nd one, the 1st being at the Nationals this year, a check for $ 20.00. Since he makes the biggest percentage of his income racing, does that make him a Pro ??? He earned a dollar picking up sticks for grandma, and $ 30.00 racing. I think the answer is clear.
Picture Size
10/22/07 ... effective immediately, I am going to re-size photos that I add a little larger. some of the ones I am using are hard to see. I will leave the ones already here as they are, but new ones will be larger.
MOST IMPROVED DRIVER OF 2007
AT ENGLISH CREEK SPEEDWAY IN KNOXVILLE IOWA
10/27/2007 Our awards banquet was at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum in Knoxville Ia. "Where Memory Lane meets Victory Lane" ... We had a nice banquet with great food catered in, a great time with friends and family, most of the racers from this year at the track were there, and Joshua's mom and her boyfriend, his 2 brothers, both grandmas and his grandpa attended.
He was 1st awarded a beautiful plaque for his 4th place finish in the class, and a check. We had decided before the banquet that whatever he got was to be his. We would start sharing winnings between the driver and owner in the 2008 season. His check for the year end was substantial, and he is a very happy young man.
THEN, as the other awards were handed out, for rookie of the year, driver of the year, etc, there came an award for "Most Improved Driver of 2007". It was explained that this award was carefully calculated based on the season results from early in the year, towards the end of the year, and the actual improvements in finishing positions through the year. The winner of that award was
JOSHUA MOFFITT, # 53

" HEY, I KNOW HIM !!! "
I am SOOOOO proud of him, and its nice to see our efforts paying off. Throughout the year, and again at the banquet, before the award was given, we have had people tell us how much it looks like we are improving, this REALLY helped us feel good about our efforts, Josh wanted a big trophy, and now he has one !
CONGRATULATIONS JOSHUA !!!

IT RUNS AND RUNS REALLY REALLY GOOD !
we had it to the track, and it ran REALLY REALLY well ! Better than I ever expected ! Josh started in the back of the 1st heat, and won, won the trophy dash, and had a clear lead in the feature when he got together with a lap car, causing a restart, and sending him to the tail with 2 to go. Then we went to another track and ran 2nd in the heats and feature, after we missed our gear.
should be a VERY exciting year !
check the results for may 3. 2008 ... video will follow shortly

PIT VEHICLE SECURED !
we fell in love with Roger from Iceberg Karts' Outlaw Sprint styled Barstool racer at the Nationals in 2007. Due to a situation in Roger's life, his Life Masterplan was forced to change, and some toys had to be liquidated. We immediately made a deal to aquire the outlaw barstool racer. It is our plan to paint it up in "Herbie 53" this winter. Pics will follow when that is done.

2nd PLACE POINTS FINISH !
Joshua's season at English Creek Speedway in Knoxville Iowa, Sprint Car Capital of the World, on Sept 27, 2008
Joshua had 8 top 3 finishes, including back to back feature wins, and only fell out of the top 3 a total of 3 times all year, after his engine suffered some damage. Needless to say, the team of Joshua Moffitt Racing is VERY happy with our results.
1st place was Katelyn Smith, and 3rd was Clinton VanHelton.
CONGRATULATIONS JOSHUA MOFFITT !
